I obtained my general medical degree in 1990 from Selcuk University in Konya, Turkey. Following this, I completed my mandatory general medical and family medicine years, as well as my military service, in Turkey. After fulfilling these obligations, I came to Hungary for ophthalmology specialist training. I spent my residency years among highly experienced instructors and colleagues at the SOTE I. Ophthalmology Clinic in Budapest. I learned Hungarian in nearly six months to be able to communicate with patients. I passed my specialist exam in 2000. Afterward, I continued working at the I. Ophthalmology Clinic for several years, where I acquired additional specializations and treated patients as an ophthalmologist.
I became a specialist in eyelid diseases and their plastic surgeries at the clinic. From 2004, I worked as an ophthalmologist in outpatient care at the Budai Irgalmasrendi Hospital, in a 20-bed department. Later, following the restructuring of the healthcare system, I practiced at the hospital and performed cataract and eyelid plastic surgeries in a day surgery system at several locations. In the spring of 2013, I moved back to my hometown with my family and started working in Izmir, Turkey. I worked at a clinic specializing only in ophthalmic diseases, providing outpatient care and performing a high number of cataract and eyelid plastic surgeries.
I also saw a large number of pediatric patients, whom I treated as outpatients and performed minor surgeries on. I am a member of the Hungarian Ophthalmological Society. I maintained my membership even while working abroad and continuously completed the mandatory training in Hungary. I started working in Hungary again in November 2021. I believe that meeting patients living in different natural conditions abroad helped me encounter a wide variety of diseases and learn their effective treatments. I consider it important in medicine that specialists can find the final solution together. In many cases, a patient visiting an ophthalmologist eventually ends up in the capable hands of an otolaryngologist or a neurologist if their doctor directs them to the right place.
